Who will be at Hines since Jamie Brown is at Roosevelt? Does anybody know? Are Hines and Irving reserved for North Carolina?

2 Anon said...

I think the better question with this list is...How many BOE members know which principals are in which building?

Emtronics said...

Who cares?

Probably the people who work, volunteer and/or have students who matriculate in the schools where the principals are assigned.

Irving asst/Lincoln asst. hired from NC waiting for certification approval. Heard Hines is another NC person who was at Peoria High then Richwoods....or maybe Duke transfered to Hines and NC person at Woodruff. Rumor has it!!!!

Anonymous said...

Irving..

No principal

The assistant principal from Lincoln (TBA) will serve Irving the first semester as Irving will move into Lincoln for the second semester.
I've been told by several the assistant is coming from North Carolina to arrive in July.

Anonymous said...

U Brown is Lincoln
Jemilo is Jamieson
Montgomery is Woodrow Wilson
Andrews is Trewyn
Cushing is Franklin

Anonymous said...

Also Irving's hours are changing in the fall. With them "moving" (that will be helpful to the kids and testing) midyear, they will be starting at 7:30.

Anonymous said...

This whole North Carolina thing is sickening.

Monrad was an assistant and he is leaving the district.

Anonymous said...

What about Gloria Cox, where is she going?

Anonymous said...

She is bringing them in from NC because they probably can't get a job in the school systems there. I can't believe the board is allowing this. Oh, yes, I can! They are as dumb as a box of rocks and are wanting to ruin the school district!

Sharon Crews said...

I have a friend (former Peorian, now in Atlanta) tells me an Atlanta school district has a new superintendent. One of her first tactics was to fire some principals and to shuffle the rest--and she brought in her own people from--yes, North Carolina.

2 Anon said...

North Carolina is probably cheering the removal of these people from their school systems...jus saying!

Sharon Crews said...

How many more potential superintendents are from North Carolina? I just looked up this info about the Georgia superintendent--August, 2011 -Cheryl L.H. Atkinson holds a bachelors of arts and a masters of arts in elementary education from the University of North Carolina, and a doctor of education in education administration from Virginia Tech. Although Atkinson comes from a smaller district, she has deep experience in large districts such as Kansas City, where she was a deputy superintendent, and as an associate superintendent in Charleston, S.C., and a regional superintendent in Charlotte, N.C., Bowen said.

When is Terri Dunn retiring. I thought this was her last year? Somebody said Tanya Jenkins was going to HR and Brandon Caffey was going to Manual. I love summer rumors. They keep our mind off the heat.

Any word on Assistant Principals? Rumor was Glen Oak was getting 3 assistants this year and I know Mr. Monrad left but haven't heard who is replacing him or who the other Assistant will be. I'm assuming since nothing has been said to the contrary Katie Powers was still going to be an Assistant.

2 Anon said...

a former Trewyn teacher who now has his credentials is a Glen Oak assistant.

Anonymous said...

iInteresting that York Powers wife, who has very little experience, was the only one to keep her position. What was that word, Emerge? Cronyism?

On another note, are we really getting top-notch educators, or just Dr. Lathan's picks? Remember under Lathan the district lost 2 administrators with PhD"s.

Anonymous said...

Hello!!! 150! Where are the test scores?

Anonymous said...

Glen Oak will have Tony Shinall, Kari Boerger, and Katie Powers as assistant principals. Katie Powers is the only one with "experience"(one semester as an assistant principal at Glen Oak). Tell me why Glen Oak cannot get "highly qualified" administrators? They always seem to get the "left-overs"....why is that. If Charter Oak and Kellar are doing so well, then I say, by all means, bring over those two principals to "clean up" the mess left by over a dozen past principals(mistakes)...

Anonymous said...

York Powers and his wife work for 150? Didn't they just come to Peoria last year from Decatur? AND Powers has a daughter who is working for 150.

That would be 3 more people in Peoria who could/should be working instead of transplants who don't know anything about our students or city.

I wasn't surprised that Crawford won as President of the District 150 board, but I was surprised that Cloyd was unanimously named Vice-President.

2 Anon said...

Oh brother...for both. What was the vote for Crawford?

Anonymous said...

Thanks for your input.

Anonymous said...

Anyone better than Butler. That sh#t was getting creepy.

Anonymous said...

I heard that Gloria Cox, the Manual 7th & 8th grade principal that was let go, has been sent to Woodruff in an administrator's position with no cut in pay. If she and Coleman were poor in their positions, how is this possible?
Does anyone know the outcome of the lawsuit of Geraldine Cox from NC vs the teachers? Or was that lawsuit just a rumor?

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't surprise me. It is my understanding that Coleman actually got a raise in pay with her "demotion".

Anonymous said...

Yes, where are the test scores? Why the secrecy? I know how funny; you get demoted, but get a raise. It doesn't make sense. I think I will ask my boss to demote me so I can get a raise but have less responsibility.
It is too bad Coleman sold everyone out by not fighting for her position. But heck, she got paid to shut up. They all should have gone together and filed one big lawsuit.

Anonymous said...

If Curtin got the same rating as the other two and was demoted with a decrease in salary I would hope he would fight that in court.

Anonymous said...

I hear Curtin hadn't taught much before going into administration so his pay decrease is going to be severe. The WHOLE situation is wrong. They shouldn't have ben "demoted" and some of them, with an increase in pay, don't seem to have been and others are being punished to the extreme. How is any of this right?

2 Anon said...

It is beginning to look like the game "How many NC personnel can we bring to Peoria to make the big bucks?" It is very sad.

The BOE doesn't even recognize Peoria is being taken for a ride here with all of these NC people replacing good, productive Peoria employees.

Anonymous said...

Even the Human Resource Specialist is from NC and no one noticed that (she has been here a year)......just sayin....

Anonymous said...

Another she already took a leave of absence....like Ravonda Johnson did within 2 months of being here......

Anonymous said...

I see on the HR report from Monday's meeting that Hines' principal was placed. A Heather Young. WHo's this?

Sharon Crews said...

Heather is a life-long Peorian. She was at Manual the last I heard, but I don't know that she stayed there.

Anonymous said...

Heather was at Sterling as Assist. Principal. Hooray for hometown, finally.

Anonymous said...

Heather is great, Hines is lucky to get her!

Anonymous said...

Did anyone notice that Terri Dunn has been on all the Human Resource reports as Director, but Monday's HR report has an Amy Moore on it? Is Dunn already gone as the HR Director.

Anonymous said...

Heather Young is a person of integrity. She has been a school nurse and health teacher before becoming an administrator. She will do an outstanding job at Hines!

Anonymous said...

As I said before...Dunn retired and NC person is the HR Specialist and is now taking over...this person has been here a year and no one noticed.

Anonymous said...

I noticed on the HR report that Terry Mooney was hired as an Assistant Principal at Trewyn. Does anyone know if this is Terry Mooney SR (principal at Christ Lutheran) or Terry Mooney Jr (worked at Limestone High)?

Wow, this district never seems to surprise me with who they hire.

Anonymous said...

I am a Hines parent, does anyone know how she treated facilty, students, and parent volunteers?

Anonymous said...

Thats not true I live in the city of Atlanta Ga Mr. Davis is the supt. who replace Beverly Hall rite after this cheating scandal google it.

Anonymous said...

Sharon are you sure Mr. Davis is the superintendent for Atlanta Public School. Beverly Hall was the superintendent before him and she held that position down for many years. Gov. Nathan Deal hired Mr. Davis after this cheating bull took place to shake up the school system.

Anonymous said...

Hines parent:Ms.Young is a newby. She will be Lathans little soldier if she wants to keep her job. Dont count on muchfromher this year.

Anonymous said...

Dekalb county, then.

Anonymous said...

If you google Ms. Atkinson, like I did, you will find that she was hired to be the super. of DeKalb County, which includes 10% of Atlanta.

Anonymous said...

Either that, or she will come in and do great for the faculty, parents, and students and they will all love her. Then, lathanator will get her right in her sights and the hell will begin. Either way, it probably won't end well.

Anonymous said...

To Hines Parent: A new Principal is compared to a blank canvas. I am certain Heather wants her school to be successful. The supports she gets from the parents, faculty and school community, in general, will be the determining factor. The question is how will the parents, faculty and volunteers treat her. Remember she is the new person on the block. The Hines school community is very lucky to have her.

Anonymous said...

Thank you everyone for replying to my question. I quess I could be cautiously optimistic about how Ms. Young will do. Another question. So pretty much lathan is going after Principles that are doing a ok to good job at there school?

Anonymous said...

She seems to think good leaders should have adversarial reltaionships with their staff. I don't know how this would be productive but she seems to believe it.

Anonymous said...

Thanks again for replying...Well when Hines had Mrs. Wiggers there she diffently had an adversarial relationship with her staff. The staff seemed to of had a good working relationship with Mrs. Brown.
To answer the anonymous question as to how the staff, parents, and community will support Ms.Young. I personally hope that the parents of Hines show her the greatest curtesy and respect. As for the PTO that could be another story. Our PTO has an agenda and they don't like what they have planned messed with. As far as the teachers go I cannot answer that question. I want to thank everyone who has answered my questions.

Anonymous said...

Ms. Young is a lovely person, she is friendly and will do a good job. She will need a lot of support as this is her first year as principal. Anyone who has ever worked with her doesn't have a bad word to say about her. Anonymous is correct Dr. Lathan doesn't want any of her principals to get along with the staff.

Anonymous said...

If Jamie did a good job and got along well with her staff, that is probably the very reason she was moved from Hines to RMS. I really am not a fan of all the negativity, but lathan has proven through actions what her plan seems to be. It is ridiculous to continue to move these principals around and disrupt the lives of all these students in order for her to "put the principals in their place". I wish we could move forward feeling confident that she is actually here to make things better rather than working on her resume for a couple more years.

I wish the best for Ms. Young as well as the students, parents, and staff at Hines. Maybe lathanator will have her sights set on some other principals in the next couple years and Heather will make it out ok.

Anonymous said...

If Amy is taking over HR then there will be a lot of teachers taken out of work. She plays dirty.

Anonymous said...

Amy Moore is from NC? I was told by the union that she did not qualify for HR director. She is in the hip pocket of Latham.

Anonymous said...

So Taunya Jenkins isn't gong to be the Asst HR Director? It was just a rumor?

Anonymous said...

Amy Moore is from North Carolina and I do not think she is certified in education.

Anonymous said...

To Emerge: Principals report this week. Who is the new Principal at Manual? Word on the Street, Jenkins is at the Admin. Building in HR.

Anonymous said...

medical emergency, hospital stay actually. but glad your keeping tabs on her.
